Falling.. Or Am I Flying??

Song: Falling
Artist: Matt Hales (Aqualung),
Music: Nitin Sawhney

Lyrics:
Some day the wind will change and you will see me clearly
One day these dreams of mine will bring me to my time
Some day I will become what I am meant to becoming to
One day but that's a million some days from today

Lately the sunshine makes a different shape around me
Lately my music has a different sound to show me
Lately I ask questions of the world but no one is listening
Tell me when I go to sleep what will the morning bring me?

Falling, falling, falling, or am I flying?
Flying, flying, flying, or am I falling?

My Take: The song is one of my favourites. It seems as if the song been sung in a different language altogether - The Language of the Soul. Aqualung is one of my favourite artists. He has given it all to the song. The song starts with a "Yeap Yeap" sound that slowly transforms into this sound that is similar to a train running on rails making you enter into an atmosphere where you visualize yourself all alone sitting by the window on a train on a sunny afternoon where everything outside is golden. And, you realize you finally have time to think about your life - and just your life. I really connect with this song because it takes me back to my days when people used to doubt by abilities while I knew I was strong on the inside. I was just waiting for a chance to prove it. I was trying to make people realize how I was not the person they thought me to be. The last lines are the best. They make you want to feel that thing someday. A state where you no longer worry whether you are going to die or live - eternal peace.

While writing this itself, I got so emotional that I'll now need to go and listen to this song.

10/10 for this song people.

And ya, please let me know if you know any nice songs similar to this or even otherwise. :)

Cold - Twilight

Song Name: Cold
Album/Movie: Twilight (3)
Singers: Aqualung, Lucy Schwartz

This song was featured in Twilight and was a long wait as I had been dying for a new Aqualung song for so many days. This song just filled in the void and is worth waiting for. Lucy Schwartz has performed brilliantly. The music is awsome as ever. It just flows all along the song with one stream ending and the other starting before that. The lyrics like many Aqualung songs are minimal and picture a situation more 'perfectly' than a thousand words.

Lyrics:

God and his priests and his kings
All were waiting, all will wait as they go over
Held between heaven and hell
As they're dancing, as they dance over and over...over
Cold, Cold

Crimson and burr are still
Yours completely, yours as we go over
Sing for the lion and lamb
Their hearts are haunting
Still hearts hold ever and ever...ever
Cold, Cold

God and his priests and his kings
Turn their faces, even they feel the cold, oh...oh
What you are given can't be forgotten and never forsaken
What you are given can't be forgotten and never forsaken
Cold, Cold

Kalail Dinamum

This song had comfortably remained in my folder for quite some time before I gave it a shot. Actually, this song along with others were given to me by a friend who knows how much I like A R Rahman's music. The song's quality exceeded my expectation level when I first heard it. In fact, I had to play it again immediately so as to reassure myself of a big mistake I had made by not listening to it till then.

Anyway, enough of my trashy talk. Specifications:

Song Name: Kalail Dinamum
Music: A R Rahman
Singers: Unnikrishnan and Sadhana Sargam

The song has a beautiful mix of western and indian music - a characteristic of ARR's songs. A superb performance by the flautist (I guess it is Navin). And the theme tune of "New" that fits into every other song of the movie so perfectly that you think it was made for this one.

The song describes the love of a woman - as a mother and as a wife - and explains the importance of a woman in the life of a man.

Just love this song! Go ahead and give it a try.
