Falling.. Or Am I Flying??

Song: Falling
Artist: Matt Hales (Aqualung),
Music: Nitin Sawhney

Lyrics:
Some day the wind will change and you will see me clearly
One day these dreams of mine will bring me to my time
Some day I will become what I am meant to becoming to
One day but that's a million some days from today

Lately the sunshine makes a different shape around me
Lately my music has a different sound to show me
Lately I ask questions of the world but no one is listening
Tell me when I go to sleep what will the morning bring me?

Falling, falling, falling, or am I flying?
Flying, flying, flying, or am I falling?

My Take: The song is one of my favourites. It seems as if the song been sung in a different language altogether - The Language of the Soul. Aqualung is one of my favourite artists. He has given it all to the song. The song starts with a "Yeap Yeap" sound that slowly transforms into this sound that is similar to a train running on rails making you enter into an atmosphere where you visualize yourself all alone sitting by the window on a train on a sunny afternoon where everything outside is golden. And, you realize you finally have time to think about your life - and just your life. I really connect with this song because it takes me back to my days when people used to doubt by abilities while I knew I was strong on the inside. I was just waiting for a chance to prove it. I was trying to make people realize how I was not the person they thought me to be. The last lines are the best. They make you want to feel that thing someday. A state where you no longer worry whether you are going to die or live - eternal peace.

While writing this itself, I got so emotional that I'll now need to go and listen to this song.

10/10 for this song people.

And ya, please let me know if you know any nice songs similar to this or even otherwise. :)

Cold - Twilight

Song Name: Cold
Album/Movie: Twilight (3)
Singers: Aqualung, Lucy Schwartz

This song was featured in Twilight and was a long wait as I had been dying for a new Aqualung song for so many days. This song just filled in the void and is worth waiting for. Lucy Schwartz has performed brilliantly. The music is awsome as ever. It just flows all along the song with one stream ending and the other starting before that. The lyrics like many Aqualung songs are minimal and picture a situation more 'perfectly' than a thousand words.

Lyrics:

God and his priests and his kings
All were waiting, all will wait as they go over
Held between heaven and hell
As they're dancing, as they dance over and over...over
Cold, Cold

Crimson and burr are still
Yours completely, yours as we go over
Sing for the lion and lamb
Their hearts are haunting
Still hearts hold ever and ever...ever
Cold, Cold

God and his priests and his kings
Turn their faces, even they feel the cold, oh...oh
What you are given can't be forgotten and never forsaken
What you are given can't be forgotten and never forsaken
Cold, Cold

Kalail Dinamum

This song had comfortably remained in my folder for quite some time before I gave it a shot. Actually, this song along with others were given to me by a friend who knows how much I like A R Rahman's music. The song's quality exceeded my expectation level when I first heard it. In fact, I had to play it again immediately so as to reassure myself of a big mistake I had made by not listening to it till then.

Anyway, enough of my trashy talk. Specifications:

Song Name: Kalail Dinamum
Music: A R Rahman
Singers: Unnikrishnan and Sadhana Sargam

The song has a beautiful mix of western and indian music - a characteristic of ARR's songs. A superb performance by the flautist (I guess it is Navin). And the theme tune of "New" that fits into every other song of the movie so perfectly that you think it was made for this one.

The song describes the love of a woman - as a mother and as a wife - and explains the importance of a woman in the life of a man.

Just love this song! Go ahead and give it a try.

And it's Brighter Than Sunshine

Song Name: Brighter Than Sunshine
Album: Still Life (2003)

Artist: Aqualung

"I never understood before,
I  never knew what love is for,
My heart was broke, my head was sore,
What a feeling!
Tied up in ancient history
Tied up in ancient history
I didnt believe in destiny
I look up you're standing next to me
What a feeling

What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
Brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, i don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine
And it's brighter than sunshine

I never saw it happening
I'd given up and given in
I just couldn't take the hurt again
What a feeling

I didn't have the strength to fight
Suddenly you seemed so right
Me and you
What a feeling

What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
It's brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, I don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine

It's brighter than the sun
It's brighter than the sun
It's brighter than the sun, sun, shine.

Love will remain a mystery
But give me your hand and you will see
Your heart is keeping time with me

What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
It's brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, I don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine."

Now that you've read the lyrics, be ready to get addicted to this song! This song is something that you'll never get bored off. The song has some really organic music, something that Aqualung is very famous for, and because of this you quickly get attached to the song.

The lines "Let the rain fall, I don't care, I'm yours and suddenly you're mine, Suddenly you're mine" just steal your heart away.It just makes you fall in love with love all over again. I just love the way Aqualung weaves his words into songs, they simply speak the cardiac-language when you listen to them!

Hosanna! - Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa

Okay readers! This is the song of the day. The first song.

Song Name: Hosanna
Movie : Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya
Music: A.R. Rahman

Hosanna is really special to me for many reasons explainable and unexplainable. That's why I did not take much in deciding the song that I had to post about for the day. Just close your eyes and listen to the music. Imagine you're on a beach. The song will take you flying in the air, bring you back on the beach with your friends, you will imagine of a bright sunny day with cool breeze blowing on your face. Really, Hosanna liberates you in a way. So the next time you're busy just listen to this song - You'll feel great.

In the movie, the song is picturised at a beautiful location that just makes you go 'Wow!' Hosanna, in a way means "a sigh/cry of relief" and trust me this song does justice to that, thanks to the music by the Oscar-Winner A. R. Rahman

I invite you to share your views on the song! BTW, the movie 'VTV' is soon to be released in Bollywood by the name 'Ek Deewana Tha'. Just think about the awe its going to create here!

Here is a still from the song:

Wow!

I am simply amazed! 25 hits in a day. That's not too bad for a start. Is it? Looking forward to some really great time ahead sharing my views on music and the way I perceive it! Thanks a lot readers!
